Andwell Brewing Company LLP Resolute 3.8 Light amber best bitter with english sovereign hops.
Andwell Brewing Company LLP Gold Muddler 3.9 Golden blonde ale with addition of Munich malt.
Downton Brewery Company New Forest Ale 3.8 A copper coloured session bitter.
Triple fff Altons Pride 3.8 Full flavoured well hopped session beer
1648 Brew Master 3.9 Chestnut/brown standard bitter with a non-standard flavour. Great taste, depth and flavour. A new brew to replace Original. Same ABV, same quaffability, but a completely different taste and character.
Cottage Whippet Special 3.9 A light tawny coloured session bitter, brewed with Progress, Challenger and Syrian Goldings hops to give a floral aroma and a balanced bitter finish.
Goddards Scrumdiggity 4.0 Refreshingly clean, easy-drinking bitter, with a wonderful aroma of freshly-rubbed hops that carries through to a satisfying aftertaste (CAMRA Good Beer Guide description). Loads of awards. Available year round. Also available as a cold-sterile filtered (not pasteurised) bottled beer.
Bow House Brewery AKA Plain Ales Innocence 4.0 A golden ale and very refreshing
Itchen Fagins 4.1 An excellent session bitter. Light brown, well balanced beer with fine malts, dry citrus flavours and well hopped. The aftertaste is dry, bitter and lightly fruity
Triple fff Moondance 4.2 Pale and well hopped with cascade giving a citrus fruity finish.
1648 Bee – Head 4.6 Honey coloured ale gently flavoured with pure Sussex Honey but balanced with a gentle biscuit edge.
Hop Back Entire Stout 4.5 A rich dark stout with a strong roasted malt flavourand a long,smooth aftertaste. Suitable for vegans.
Otter Otter Ale 4.5 a very well balanced beer that delivers the flavours of quality floor malted barley and finishes with a combination of fruit and some bitterness. Its nose is a balance of malt and fruit.
Oakleaf Pompey Royal 4.5 Brewed to the traditional recipe Pompey Royal is a sweet and malty ale with a delicate hop finish.
Hepworth Prospect Organic Ale 4.5 our organic pale ale is 4.5% abv, flavoured with Sussex grown barley and Golding and Admiral hops.
Yates Blonde 4.5 A light beer with fruity,citrious initial taste, followed by a hoppy nose.

Hepworth Iron Horse 4.8 A strong bitter with a four malt grist to give a slightly sweet beer balanced with a subtle late hop to create a beer more easily drunk than its strength might suggest.

The monstrous scaffolding has been built, courtesy of RGM Scaffolding, and the ales are racked and tapped. Its all good. Everything is coming together except perhaps the weather which is a little blustery up here on Nettlestone Green. Nevermind, Real Ale tastes good rain or shine Cannot wait for Saturday peoples x

King Lud & Roadside Inn

As a response to the renewed success of The King Lud, Ryde Esplanade, the owners Sam and Suzy are maximising the reputation of the Real Ale and Music and reawakening The Roadside Inn. Both pubs boast a great location but The
Roadside has the added benefits of a lovely big beer garden, parking and Bed and Breakfast.
On Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th July The Roadside Inn, Nettlestone is hosting its very own Real Ale and Music Festival featuring music from local talent from midday til midnight, and twenty real ales and ciders to be enjoyed in the garden with a scrumptious BBQ. Special deal taxi fares available all weekend from The King Lud. Supported by Goddards, Yates, Wightwash, and in aid of Help for Heroes.

Suzy tells us that in their other pub, the King
Lud they have had to put on another hand
pump to cope with demand and the locals
have developed a taste for real cider. Pickle
parlours have been introduced to both pubs
(this bears more investigation).

DescriptionAnother day another new gig for Crossfire. We need you wonderful guys & gals to help us make this a great night. We hope some of you can make it!

Crossfire are:

Gavin Scovell (Vocals/Lead Guitar)
Stewart Woodward (Vocals/Guitar)
Dave White (Bass)
Chris O’Connell (Drums/Backing Vocals)

Crossfire started as an idea of Singer/Lead Guitarist Gavin Scovell. Gavin had played in bands on the Island during the 90’s but over the last few years had been gigging with his friend Dave Woodford as a duo. But due to Dave’s work committments their gigs were becoming fewer and far between. Gav decided that he would put a band together to scratch his musical itch and fill in some gigs between his duo work with Dave.
The lineup changed somewhat over the first year but by the spring of 2007 it had settled down to Gavin (Vocals/Guitar), Chris O’Connell (Drums/Backing Vocals), John Heath (Guitar) and Dave White (Bass). At the start of the summer they brought in Stewart Woodward (Vocals/Guitar) to share the singing duties with Gavin.
The bands first gig was a private one for Dave’s boss and was supposed to take place in a gazebo on a hot summers day in July. Unfortunately no one had told the weather that it was summer and it proceeded to chuck it down with rain. But the show must go on and the band proceeded to empty Dave’s boss’ living room of all its furniture and set up their gear.
The gig was as you’d expect very intimate with the party goers dancing practically on top of the band.
Despite this succesful start the band didn’t start gigging regularly until the end of the year.
2008 saw Crossfire play plenty of gigs and things were going well until in May, John decided to quit the band. The rest of the band soldiered on as a 4-piece and played loads of gigs throughout 2009 and have plenty more lined up for 2010!
